Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is Murli?

Murli is the edible-oil brand of Maharashtra Oil Extractions Ltd. (MOEL). Our oils are refined and packed at our own facility in Dhule, Maharashtra.

Which oils are in the Murli range?

Murli Refined Soyabean Oil and Murli Refined Cottonseed Oil. Murli Refined Sunflower Oil joined the range in 2025.

Are Murli oils made from non-GMO seeds?

Yes. Murli soyabean oil is made from natural, non-GMO soybean sourced in India, and MOEL holds Non-GMO chain-of-custody certification.

Is Murli oil cholesterol-free?

Yes. Like all vegetable oils, Murli is naturally cholesterol-free (0 mg per 100 g). It is also fortified with vitamins A and D.

Soyabean or cottonseed — which should I choose?

Both are refined for everyday Indian cooking. Soyabean oil has more polyunsaturated fat (60 g vs 53 g per 100 g) and less saturated fat (16 g vs 28 g). Many Maharashtrian households keep cottonseed oil for deep-frying farsan and festive snacks.

What is gossypol, and is it in Murli cottonseed oil?

Gossypol is a natural compound found in cottonseed. Our refining process removes it from the oil.

How should I store Murli oil, and how long does it keep?

Murli is best used within 6 months of the packing date. Keep the pack closed, in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight.

Can I reuse oil after frying?

Let it cool, strain it and store it covered. FSSAI advises against reheating cooking oil more than three times. Discard oil that has turned dark, thick or smoky.

Which pack sizes are available?

Soyabean oil: 500 ml and 1 L bottles and pouches, 2 L, 5 L, 15 L and 15 kg jars, and 15 L and 15 kg tins. Cottonseed oil: 1 L bottle and pouch, 2 L, 5 L, 15 L and 15 kg jars, and 15 L and 15 kg tins.

Where can I buy Murli?
